Raspberry preserves

While breakfasting this morning, I made some raspberry preservers from our home-grown raspberries using a very simple recipe I found on the web.

Raspberry preserves
  • 1-1/3 tbl water
  • 1 cup sucre de canne

Put the water and sugar in a small saucepan and bring to a boil.

  • 1 cup raspberries

Add the raspberries and simmer for 5 mintues. Pour into a sterilized jar. Refrigerate.

Yield: About 1 cup preserves

That's all there is to it. We'll see how it is.

The market had boxes of apricots for preserves for €8. Too bad Ed doesn't like apricot preserves. :-(

What's this about?

This is the KS half of the EAKS duo. For over 25 years, I've kept some form of diary or calendar that showed what I'd cooked for dinner or otherwise each day. I used these for a bit planning but mostly as a record of what we've eaten. With my handwritten scribbles it was sometimes quite difficult to decipher what it was I'd actually made.

Before we moved I tossed all the old dairies and filled a notebook with the calendar pages. After each new year, I'd remove pages for the oldest year and add the ones for the year just past.

At some point I thought it might be interesting to do this as a blog, but didn't really get seriously started on it till I joined Cooking Italy and needed a place to post.

So here we are. Each week I post a list of what's been happening in our kitchen. And when I need it, there's a special post for Cooking Italy or anything else that crosses our kitchen-mind.
